One of our roos, affectionately named "Chubs" cuz he's a chubby and he hops up and down when he sees we're coming with treats!

I just got my first chicks of this breed! I had received 4 but two did not make it. They are only a week old but seem to be doing well. One seems to be feathering out mostly white while the other has a little more color mixed in. Anyone with experience know when you can start to tell male vs. female. I am hoping for one of each but my gut tells me they will both be male.

With mine the lighter one was the male and darker were the female.

I hope so! My darker one isnt quite as dark as yours but you cam definatley see more buff color coming in on it now. I am still crossing my fingers i have a boy and a girl! Where are yours from Stephwind?

I bought 2 sets from Greenfire - first set I have just 5, hatched 5/15, and second set I have 13 hatched 5/22

It definitely appears that you have one of each! Lighter being the Roo. You'll be able to tell for sure when they are 2.5 - 3 weeks old.

These kids will be 3 weeks old on Sunday, and I actually have a total of 18 chicks - will need to see how many of each that I have.

This kid is a hoot! He is one of the younger Nieds and still in the house, but planning on moving them out to the barn in a few days.

So what are your thoughts on male or female...this is stumping me because i have one other that is practically all white (super pale yellow) still. This one has more buff but i am still hesitant. Thanks!
