I got this baby as my Mystery chick from Murray McMurray, along with my barred rocks. Upon arrival it was significantly smaller than the rocks, so I thought it might be a bantam, or at least a lightweight egg laying breed, but now it is catching up in size. I thought it was lemon cuckoo in coloration, but I'm seeing more grey in it now. Compared to the rocks (which have become obvious which are roos vs pullets) it looks like a pullet, but I know different breeds develop differently. It has yellow legs and a single comb and pale yellow feathers on the breast. Do y'all think it is a Niederrheiner? (They are 7 weeks old.)

Thanks for any input!

I believe the Niederrheiners that McMurray has are lemon cuckoo, so color on yours does not look quite right.😊

It seems to have a big comb but it's not red at all. 🤔 My guess would be pullet?

I think it's more likely to be a Bielefelder or a Cream Legbar with that coloring.
A Cream Lebar would have a small crest behind the comb, a Bielefelder would not. I don't think I see any crest in the photos, but I'm not positive.

For any breed with white barring, the males have more white than the females, and I think this one shows enough white that it's a male. (But of course I could be wrong. You will probably know the gender for sure in another month or so, either way.)

I also think it's male just because it's the mystery chick from McMurray-- most of them turn out to be males.

There isn't any crest... kind of a "normal" chicken in structure. Thank you all for the input. I think you are probably right about Bielefelder. It looked more lemon a few weeks ago, but getting more greyish now. I had been assuming a roo for the same reasoning of it being a McMurray Mystery Chick, but the comb is so much smaller and paler than my Barred Rock roos of the same age. I'm holding out hope for a pullet, but I certainly won't be surprised if it turns out to be a boy.
