This bedtime I made up a story for my son about a bird hatching, going in a box, a truck, a plane, another truck, and into the feed store. It ends by being picked up by a little boy with 11 of its friends and going to a new home. My son was so excited he was twitching during the story.
So I gave him the option of holding the chickies and saying good night or getting another story. He's 3 1/2, so he's pretty good, mostly.
I sit and help him be gentle. The Road Island Red fell asleep in his lap! It was the cutest thing. One sleepy "turkey bird" and one sleepy chickie.
