Night Vision?

No they are fairly blind in the dark. Not totally blind though! They can sometimes see enough to move away from you if you want to catch one, but as soon as they feel safe they just sit down where they are instead of risking moving around. Once they are settled and asleep they are practically in a coma, which is why most people catch them, check for lice, medicate, etc. after the birds have gone to roost.

It is my personal belief that cockerels can see better in the dark than the hens can. At least mine seem to. The only thing I'm not sure of is whether or not they can truely SEE better, or if it's just in their instinct to stay more alert after dark. That I couldn't tell ya.
