Here's a pic of a bulkhead fitting.
The left side of the picture is your flange side. The o-ring(this picture has two it only comes with one usually) will sit up againts the flange. Slide that part of your bulkead through the appropriate sized hole and then take the screw on part and tighten it down. Now the inside of the bulkhead fitting can come either threaded or slip you can purchase them either way. If you want to glue your pvc pipe that comes out of your bucket then buy the bulkhead with a slip fitting. If you want to be able to take everything apart buy a threaded bulkhead and use normal schedule 40 pvc parts to attach your pvc pipe.
An eaven cheaper and better option for a curved bucket is a uniseal.
Have a look at this website they have great prices and fast shipping as well as an instruction video. I use them a lot for my aquarium purchases.

A lot of people try and cobble together their own fittings with pvc parts from Home Depot but even with silicone and cement after a while you're going to have leaks. I would spend the money on a bulkhead or uniseal and save yourself a lot of aggrevation.
Let me know if you need anymore help. I know more than I need to know about bulkheads as we use them a lot in aquariums.
