Nipple waterer

Tapping the nipple should help your birds see water dripping from it. They are naturally inquisitive so they normally work things out pretty quickly in my experience.

I bought the birds a nipple waterer but they don't seem to know how to use it. Is there a trick?
Bring your most friendly or curious bird over and tap at the nipple to bring the water out. They eventually get the hang of it. Once one starts to use it, the others will copy it.

I just put a nipple waterer in my coop/run . The chicks were looking at it and I pecked on the nipples a few times with my finger so they could see there was water there , once they saw the water drip out they knew what to do . All in all it took less than a minute to get them drinking from it . Just show them there is water at those nipples . They'll figure it out from there .

If for some reason your chickens really just aren't getting it, pick up one or two of your dominant birds and use their beak to press the toggle enough to get a couple of drops of water to come out. Let the bird drink and repeat. The others should learn by watching the top birds using it.

Are they horizontal or vertical nipples?
Is it a heated waterer? In case you are in a cold climate.

Most questions are better answered knowing what kind of weather you deal with. Adding your general location to your profile helps answer a lot of questions, without guessing where you are in the world.

All I've ever done is remove any other water sources. Chickens are naturally curious. They will want to explore those bright red things with shiny silver. Once one realizes it gives water when they peck it, they all figure it out. Never had it take more than a couple hours. Winter might not be the best time to get them to start using them just in case your chickens don't get it as fast as mine have done.

Some will pick it up pronto, others make take longer.
I've had some get it in two minutes, other's took two weeks.

Yes, @Katrinasofia .....
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!
