Is anybody using nipple waters for their quail. Thinking about switching to them for my new a&m chicks they're about a week old

I use nipples for my birds. They had it figured out before I finished installing it. Seems to be working fine so far. The quail don't catch every drop so the front of my hutch stays wet. If I decide to keep them through the winter, I will need to figure out how to keep them from freezing.

I wouldn't use the nipple for hatchlings. They will get drenched and chill with the vertical and are not strong enough to engage the actuator on the horizontal type.
I've been wanting cups, but they are so expensive where I've found them.

Yeah the cups are nice but like u I can't afford them. Just wanted to get them used to the nipples before they move to the breeding pens. Thanks for the advice I will wait a few weeks and let them get fullied feathered out and build some strength before making the swap.

I bought my cups on sake online for 10 bucks for a five pack. They are the spring kind, not float valve so it took the birds a while to get it.
