I'm starting my first coop this weekend and I'm trying to decide on the best system for my girls. Going to have a lot eventually. Only have aix right now but dont want to have to upgrade for a few yeara at least. Want to make it as perfect as possible for around 15-20 hens. If anyone has suggestions with pictures I would sure appreciate it.

Compared to others like Brite tap it is much cheaper. They get $79.00 and add $20.00 to ship. They are a 2 nipple unit so a max of 16 birds Solway's comes with 6 nipples so the max. is 48 birds. The only way to expand Brite tap is to buy another one. The Solway unit is made to just add another section of pipe for another 20 birds. The sections run about $25.00. You can contact them and see if they sell a smaller unit or get some parts and build your own.

You might want to build your own watering system...I just bought 25 nips for $10 and bought the PVC for $8. Drill the holes, hang it, done. I use a 5 gal bucket for now to supply the water until I dig the trench and add a water supply to the coop.

That's exactly what I'd like to do. Is there any way you could send pics of your system so I have an idea how it should work? I'm pretty handy so just a pic should answer my questions.

I have found that cheaper nipples are not always better they are just that CHEAPER! I have tried everything and found that horizontal nipples do everything they say they will do. For me 3 years later they were a one time buy.

I will definitely be comparing price, ease and quality of anything I buy. Want it to be as inexpensive as possible and relatively maintenance free.
