No apples on the apple trees....what's up with that?

Apple trees around here are absolutely loaded with fruit! Trees along the roads are dropping apples left and right it's crazy. (And nobody's using them!! Every time I pass them I think of all the sauce that can be made if you only mixed in a few Macs......)

Folks are saying that loaded fruit trees mean bad winter. Makes sense...

Our apple tree budded lots of the little ones, ended up with three apples. A rat took one, and the two left are small and rotting now. One is still on the tree, the other dropped is is all brown and yucky now.

Fantastic apple year for us in Northern PA and Southern NY.

No apples here. One of ours had lots of buds but then nothing. The other didn't even do that much. The pear tree had some, but not as much as normal.

Before we went on vacation, we had hundreds of apples in our tree. When we came back, ZERO! The squirrels ate every one of them. I am now feeding squirrels to the chickens.:-D

Last Summer our apple orchard was bare due to a heavy frost right at bloom time. Bad winter this last year but the Spring frosts did not kill off any bloom so this Fall there are an abundance of apples!!!

My dad had an apple tree that never had any blossoms or apples on it and some old boy told him he had to hurt the tree, really hurt it, so Dad took a sledge hammer and bashed it a bunch of times and lo and behold it bloomed. I'll have to call and see if he has any apples on it. Here in Minnesota I don't have many apples on my overgrown trees but my neighbor's half dead tree is loaded.

And I thought I was the only one. . . . Have ZERO apples this year out of 5 trees.

I've got some Plums and Pears though.
