No apples on the apple trees....what's up with that?

Hi! Our apples and crabapples took a hard hit from a colder-than-usual winter --- cold enough to kill all the 'growing tips' off the trees. Then the few blooms that came on were damaged by a late freeze.
Maybe next year will be better.

I did not have any either. Was planning to cut the tree down and plant a new one.Hope you are wrong about the winter. I hate winter.

Pruning does work... and the last two years our trees were loaded. Those were the years we got a lot of snow (last winter was record breaking) and the one winter we had temps down eo -38. Not record breaking, but below average. This year we have quite a few apples, and had the most beautiful clusters of grapes I ever saw here. Then in one day my chickens ate them all

Well, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. We were planning on making some English Cider. Wouldn't you know...last year we didn't have a press of carboys, but tons of apples. This year we're prepared and no apples.

I suspect the problem is bee related. When bee keepers are forced out of an area, the fruit production falls off.

I don't think so at all here. We only have one bee keeper, same lady as always, who's about 3 miles away. Most of our trees get pollinated by Bumblebees and Syrphid flies anyway.

I'm sure it has to do with the fact that it was nice and warm in March, then suddenly froze hard in April.

Only one of the trees actually flowered, the others never even flowered.
