No chirping yet on day 21/22

If you think your temperature was low during the incubation (I had the same problem with my first hatch) I would suggest bumping up your temp about a half a degree if you can. If your thermostat is tricky (ie a little touch makes a big difference) I would leave it alone. I upped my temp after my chicks started hatching and it seemed to help.

Now have 4 pips! The first one has been pipped for 17 hours now, without much change for the last 8. The hole is mostly covered with white membrane that seems dry, and the veins look like they are drying up. It's still bumping around and peeping but can't seem to break the white membrane. I have now read the pros and cons of "helping" or not, and can't make up my mind. I dropped a speck of water on the membrane because I assume it is dry. I think that is all I do but wait, see how the other peeps do. They sure do respond to my peeping, by chirping and wiggling! That is pretty neat!

5 hatched and at least 4 more on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW! They didn't start until last night (the end of day 23) and today is day 24. I am pretty darn sure now that my thermometer is out of wack, hence the slow hatch. This is soooo exciting! For all of you on your first hatch wondering "is it going to happen?" It can! They are healthy and strong and bugging each other already, just like all good sibling should do! I will try to post pictures soon.
