My rooster has these little black spots on his comb and a few on his wattle. Out of the 3 roos he has the most, another only has a few and the other has none. They don't appear to be painful, or parasites. It's like the actual texture bumps of his comb have just turned black. I don't know of anything he could have gotten into. Any advice please. And yes this is my first flock so I might be missing something lol.

Hi there. It very well could be fowl pox. Look up fowl pox and see the pictures and see if they match. I hope this helps! let me know if the pictures of fowl pox match your birds condition?

I keep trying to upload pictures to show but my phone is not cooperative. So I googled fowl pox, and it does look similar but not nearly as bad as what I saw there. These are little black dots, but I think that might be what it is. I also googled what to do about it and I found a thread from here from a few years back saying that there is not much you can do, its caused by mosquitos. And that most people let it run its course and then they wont get it again. It's only bad when it gets on the eyes or nostrils. Do you have any experience with it?

From what I know, this is "dry" fowl pox, and it will most-likely run its course. One of my hens had little spots like these and none of the others seemed to get it. They went away in time, and did not spread.
