My DH built our coop over an A-frame swing set and enclosed the back portion with 2 X 4's side by side all the way up to the roofline, where we have metal over the coop. The boards all have about a quarter of an inch gap between them so I'm wondering if I need to insulate the coop on the inside over the boards? I live in central TX so the winters are pretty mild. I thought about getting some Radiant heat barrier material and put the shiny part in, but then I thought the chickens might peck at it. Any ideas? Or should I not worry about it?

That's a good idea mburpo, I'll consider that! What is your take on the radiant heat barrier being used as insulation?
