No crow collar opinions

I was in the same boat with a beloved surprise cockerel and tried a no crow collar -- very carefully. We got it online -- mypetchicken.com, I think. But our boy was a determined crow-er. It didn't stop frequency or volume. Instead, he would shake and move around oddly after crowing, so it clearly made him uncomfortable and/or caused him pain. We quickly found him a new home with lots of hens and no need to be quiet. Good luck to you with your boy. As with everything, I think it all depends on the individual (person AND bird).

I’m reading all of the reviews and watching YouTube videos on how to properly put it on. He would only be wearing if for a few hours, he only crows at the times in the post. Lol. I love my roo, just not when he crows in my house.

What i used to do was keep a cockbird to fertilise eggs ready for setting, then sell / cull him. I would then use one of his off-spring to continue the cycle. The end result was crowing for around 3-4 months per year, which my neighbours considered acceptable and allowed me to replace my flock on a consistent basis.

He is so beautiful though

There is some dedication needed when using the collars. I got them for both mine. It did refuce volume and frequency(which wasn't often). You will have to adjust it, that can take a couple weeks, then you should check it daily and always watch their breathing. I was dedicated to doing all of this. One day I came home and my boy collapsed in front of me flopping around. First thing I did was take the collar off, then stick my finger in his mouth to clear his airway. To this day I do t know of it was the collar or he ate something to bug and was choking. I'm leaning toward eating something to big because the collar was not tight at all. I gave left the collar off and took it off the other boy. As of now they do not crow often, so I will only put back on if crowing is out of control.
Did you nominate him for an Academy Award. LOL. He didn't like that collar I bet, smart bird.... Let me see if I flop over "dead" if she takes this collar off me. LOL. JK.

That’s like saying a dog wearing a color to stop from running off is inhumane. I’m allowed to keep a rooster where I am. If you read my post I just wanted him to temporarily wear the collar, in my HOME. Don’t be a jerk. If you don’t like my post leave. ‍♀️

Thanks for your opinion? I guess.
A dog collar is a restraint. No crow collars put unnecessary pressure on the roosters throat making it extremely uncomfortable to crow. When used incorrectly they choke them down. Roosters crow that’s what they do. This shouldn’t come as some big surprise.

You have to be able to put your pinky in on all ends much like sizing a dog collar. It really isn't tight or shouldn't be. It's wide so they can't build up the air to crow.

I know how they work and I think it’s the most ridiculous invention ever. People try to change a rooster to fit their needs. Chickens don’t belong in a house and a rooster crowing at 4am is totally normal. If rooster behavior is a problem then maybe they shouldn’t be owned.
