no eggs

i have been getting 9 eggs out of 12 hens! yesterday i just got 5 and today just 1, anyone have any ideas what may be causing this>>

This time of year is when molting happens. Egg production decreases or halts when this occurs. Are your chickens over a year old, because if they are it is probably molting.

Moulting is the first thing that comes to mind. Also, if it's Autumn where you are, that may be another reason. As Winter approaches and the days get shorter, they lay fewer eggs and very often egg production stops altogether during Winter.
