Hi all. I hope you can give me some insight. My 13 month old buff orpington was a great layer--pretty consistently 5-6 eggs/week. In late november, she took a month off. I asked about it on BYC, and people thought she was either just taking a fairly normal break or getting ready to be broody. She laid about 6 eggs in January, and then stopped again. No eggs since. (I have a mixed flock, and everyone's eggs are easy to identify). It's been more than 4 months . . . She's eating fine, acting normal. No evidence of broodiness--runs around with the other girls all day, only goes in the coop at dusk. No chance she's hiding eggs anywhere, as they're confined to a run unless I'm outside with them. I'm getting pretty frustrated with her . . . Thoughts?
thanks!

Does she have water, food and calcium? I've found that even if they go a day without water, they will quite laying for up to two weeks! You may also want to put some unpasteurized, organic apple cider vinegar in the water to help boost her immunity and health.

she's got clean water with ACV, free access to food, free access to calcium, and either scratch or veggie scraps daily . . .

she did it! after several months, she got her act together and gave us an egg yesterday! Yay!

An egg great maybe she is ready ....

When I have a question about an egg layer I put the hen in a 3 x 3 x 3 cage with plenty of feed watered down and alter Turkey Grow feed and Layer Crumble through out the day and plenty of clean cater to keep track of every thing from poop to water intake to feed consumed and two hard boiled egg's a week just to make sure all the vitamins and nutrients are being met .....

But that is what I do .....
