no eggs! !

I am new to raising chickens and started with 6 but 2 died maybe maybe restpitory issues, and they wor both pekins and 2 got munched by a dog. I now have a26wk aracana and a 23wk astrolorp and neither have layyed any eggs!!!! Whats wrong. They have a large run about 3.5 x 3.5 and also free range outside of that most days. They also have a water tank on its side with shelves in it and lots of straw to nestle in and we are about to modify it so it's more closed in.they have lots of trees that give sheelter also. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a few suggestions:

1 - do they squat if you place your hand on their backs? do they have really red combs and wattles? These are signs they are laying or nearing laying ages.

2- are you positive they are pullets? If not, then post pic for opines.

3 - Keep them in their coop/run and allow free range only in the afternoon.

4- They prefer private, dim areas to lay - make their nest area more inviting and shaded.

5- If all female and showing signs they are laying, they may be laying anywhere they are ranging, so search to see if you can find where. Most will lay in the same place every day.
