Hi everyone!
My husband and I started raising chickens several months ago, and fast became enthusiasts! I love these things!
At the end of Feb. we purchased 12 Light Sussex chicks. One of ur chicks went bald while in the brooder. My husband thought
maybe it was to warm, but I wasn't overly concerned figuring they would grow back in. She did grow quite a few back, but along her
back and her butt she is still bald. There are no signs of pecking, I watch them quite a bit. The other babies don't pick on her or
harrass her. They are about 7 weeks old, and the rest of her flock is completely feathered in properly. We thought maybe mites, so we
dusted her and the rest with some D.E. but no change, and it doesn't appear that they are trying to grow back. I can't see any feather shafts on the bald spots either.
Any ideas? Or is this something I don't really need to worry about?
Thanks!!
Kristine

This is a chick I got from Ideal in an order of surprise special pullets. She was featherless and when I 1st let her loose with the others, my hens all went after her. So...... she lived in the house. I sent pics of her to everyone everywhere and nobody had any idea of what could be wrong. Well.................. at 6 months, to the day, she laid her 1st white egg, and was fully feathered. She now is out in my main coop with all the others and is doing fine.

Nobody's really sure what breed she might be, someone that was here thought she might have been an albino something. She's fine now and holds her own!! Just be good to yours and I hope it turns out for the best!!

Thanks! I guess I won't worry unless something changes for the worse.
She is quite a bit smaller than the others, so I treat her a little bit special compared
to the others..she gets little treats and such trying to "encourage" growth.
She appears very healthy. Great looking droppings, no respiratory problems,
great appetite. I tend to worry too much lol
We have a total of 68 chickens, and everyone is my baby! And as any momma,
I worry and obsess about every single one.
By the way, I love this forum and site! It has answered so many of my
questions over the past few months of learning how to care for my
new babies. Y'all do a great job!
