No good deed ever goes unpunished!!!

:hugs OMG, glad you're ok & recovering. Hopefully your wife listens but I can understand her concern with the Duckies & eggs. Is there a neighbor that could lend a hand, checking on her couple times a day? She just needs to be careful IF she decides to tend the Duckies. :fl Take care and Merry Christmas to you, hope you'll be allowed to go home soon.
The closest neighbor would be 1 mile away and we have almost no cellphone coverage around the house. But she was too exhausted to take care of the Duckies and they enjoyed their freedom. Party all night long...

Some eggs definitely are not worth your wife's safety!!! While you're recovering in the hospital!!! She's probably not going to listen though (hopefully she does!) So make sure she calls you after she's done caring for them so you know everything's aye okay
She called me and told me that she was too exhausted to care for the Duckies.

Wish you a quick recovery. Know how those leg surgeries are (14 on left leg, last one they removed the kneecap, and right knee reconstructed). Follow their instructions. Hope you get out soon.
Have a Merry Christmas. In my prayers. :hugs
14 leg surgeries?! Are you a stunt-woman?

Your "no good deed" philosophy is right on target here, too. A couple of years ago, I was trying to offer treats to a brand-new rescue donkey. He was supposed to be a companion to my Jerry, whose sibling had died earlier in the year.

Jerry either didn't want to share treats or just plain hated his new roomie. His response was to take me to the ground (as he would have done to any coyote attacking my ruminants). In a pair of windmilling attacks, he managed to break my pelvis in two places. He, however, failed in two other possibilities -- crushing my skull or destroying any internal organs.

I now have two plates and 12 screws inserted after a trip to see the only doctor in Iowa who performs this particular type of repair -- some three hours from here.

Both the new donkey and Jerry were picked up by the rescue group and rehomed. But, believe me, I will never forget them. It was more than 3 months before I could walk without a walker or wheeling about in a chair. For the next 3 months, I was pretty wobbly and to this day, my balance is still a bit off. Sometimes, I think I want to go one way, and my right hip area chooses a different direction. Life is an adventure -- and you will get lots of mileage out of the story you get to tell.

Merry Christmas anyway!!!
Whow, what a story! Jerry could have easily killed you. I just have just some screws in my leg and thats hard enough. A broken pelvis is just bad! Really really bad!

What about food and water for the ducks not you. I am sure the hospital is giving you food and water. ;)
That will definitely be a problem: I won't be able to walk outside for the next two weeks at least. Just tried crutches and those won't work for me, need a Walker which won't work in the mud. Wifie and me must find another solution.
