No good deed ever goes unpunished!!!

12 feet?!?!?! What type of deck!! Oh my goodness, glad to hear you're alive and in one piece! "Refrigerated eggs should not be out of the fridge for more than 2 hours. Once they are lowered to fridge temperature, they must remain cool." Someone correct me if I'm wrong, the eggs should be ok overnight as long as they don't heat up tomorrow. It is also perfectly safe to freeze eggs, they're just then better for hard boiling because the yolk thickens up inside. Personal taste preference. If you think your ducks are safe from your local predators and it won't drop below 20 degrees F then they will also be fine. Foxes are a big issue at night though and anything below 20 degree could cause frostbite. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a very merry christmas!
The previous owners of the property built three decks over a steep hill site here: A large party deck ( I use it to store the duck stuff and as a workshop), a 16x16' dog house deck (now the duckies property) and a hot-tub deck which, as I discovered yesterday, is quite rotten. Looked fine from above,so...
I think some eggs isn't worth the risk of an injury at all, especially when you're home alone, but wife thinks different...

Holy MOLY! Big prayers going up for a rapid recovery and your wife too! Hope the ducks cooperate too!
That was the incredible part: After the fall, when I was lying in the mud the Duckies all ran to their platform quacking and rasping at me and while I was robbing back to the house they were all standing at the other side of their fence, making enough noise to alert my wife who then calle 911. I feel I'm in their debt now. They knew something bad had happened.

Wow! That's so amazing! They could sense your distress and your wife was turned in to their calls! Most be something like a Higher Power looking after you!

:hugs OMG, glad you're ok & recovering. Hopefully your wife listens but I can understand her concern with the Duckies & eggs. Is there a neighbor that could lend a hand, checking on her couple times a day? She just needs to be careful IF she decides to tend the Duckies. :fl Take care and Merry Christmas to you, hope you'll be allowed to go home soon.

What!!! Oh..no. Broken in three places?? Hypothermia??
What the heck hillbilly. :barnie

Some eggs definitely are not worth your wife's safety!!! While you're recovering in the hospital!!! She's probably not going to listen though (hopefully she does!) So make sure she calls you after she's done caring for them so you know everything's aye okay
