no heat/light, frigid temps and FIRST EGG!!!

Congratulations!! Nice egg and beautiful chicken.

I do not have heat or light in my pen either, and my young ones are laying. They are 9 months and 7 months. My older hens 6 years do not lay during the winter anymore. I've had my silkie for a year, but I do not know how old she was when I got her and she is still laying, too.

Congrats on the egg(s), and your pullets are very pretty! I'm not a proponent of heating or adding extra light...they lay when it's time for them to lay. Hate to mess with mother nature!!

I must ask...do you have a PURPLE chicken run???

We started getting eggs a few weeks ago and I STILL run down and check for eggs about 5 times a day... LOL... I feel like such a dork, but it's so exciting!
