Hi all!
I've just incubated some eggs and some externally pipped on day 20 and all except 1 hatched on day 21.
It's day 22 now and the only egg left has no internal pip, I candled it and there is lots of movement in the egg and thick veins
Is it normal to be so far behind?
Anyone else had this happen?

Sometimes there is a late hatcher. Perhaps a cooler spot in the incubator, or sadly sometimes due to congenital defects that limit survivability.
I did move the eggs around the incubator whenever I turned them so it shouldn't be a cool spot 🤔

Oh no hope it's not a congenital defect and it's just late, going on day 23 tomorrow morning, hopefully something will happen overnight!

So I candled the latt egg tonight which was day 23 and the chick had died so I opened up the egg and.. It has no head? Only the lower beak, very weird. There was a high temperature problem early on which must have caused it

Defects happen sometimes. That is odd looking. How many eggs did you have in the incubator? Having all, but one, not hatch is great.
I believe that it was all caused by the temperature as it was running 38.5 or higher sometimes as I was using an old thermometer as the new one from brinsea didn't arrive in time, the temperature was like that for the first week I'm pretty sure.

Some did die in there shells later on around day 18 and I cracked them open and they both had cross beak, one also hatched with cross beak but I put the poor bugger down.

When I said they all hatched I meant the ones that made it to lock down :)

Crazy how the others even made it if you ask me
