We get swarmed too. They are really tough to get off your bumper and windshield, and man do they coat it. They are actually march flies, but we call them love bugs too. They are benificial because as maggots they eat thatch and keep it from getting too heavy for the grass to grow. They are just annoying when they go through the mating cycle of their lives.

i live in central louisiana and every year we get them. seems like every 5 - 7 years we get them worse than other years. i would much rather have love bugs than the HUGE MONSTER mosquitos that hurricane Gustav and Ike brought us! Where did these suckers come from? you can see them swarm around you!!!! YIKES!!! HELP!!!!
