No more eggs for our neighbors

No eggs for my neighbors either. When my old neighbors moved, I was concerned that my chickens and 2 roos would be a problem for the new folks. These lovely people moved in with two dogs that are outside all the time. the little terrier mix barks alot, and the lab, when it barks at night is a slow staccato WOOF......WOOF.....WOOF.....WOOF. Now I'm glad Butterscotch, the mad crower silkie, prefers the gravel yard closest to their house. Butters might crow incessantly (sorry about my spelling) but at least it isn't all night.

So, my sympathy to you.

i love dogs... but there is NO excuse to have them barking NON-STOP.. if there is a REASON yes let them bark.. but usually dogs that are non-stop barkers do it because they are BORED..
they need something to DO,, if there is nothing to DO,, they will bark bark bark bark bark bark....
yes, a long walk, a training session, cookie balls (rubber ball stuffed with dog food, they have to use their brain to get it out).. big knarly cowleg chew bones,, something anything to DO, will cure it..

Most dogs need to understand their place in the family hierarchy. Most dogs were bred for a specific purpose and if you work with them a little in that direction they will be a loyal and loving companion.

My heeler is the bird protector as well as bird herder. She keeps them out of places they arent supposed to be. Its pretty funny to watch the hennies play with her. I think they know that she knows they are bluffiing but its all a backyard game. She has never seen a cow but she knows that the feral cats are the enemy.

When she was little I worked with her a lot and got her trained to be a decent fun loving dog who fell nicely into her place in the family. She gets stuff for me and picks up the feed cups. When I am feeding I throw them out of the boxes and she takes them to the loft where the feed is. In return she gets a few pigeon pellets and a good old head smear. She has impeccable manners and minds better than my kids.
Its all in the owners perspective of what a dog is. One thing they arent is human and that the first mistake most dog owners make.

Call and complain. Your complaints will be anonymous and let the authorities do something about it. You make enough complaints the problem WILL be taken care of.

My grandparents had new young neighbors move in and their dog literally barked 24/7. The reason the dog barked? Because the owners decided to breed mastiffs and the husky hybrid was kicked to a kennel to the very back of the property. So one night the dog woke grandpa up at 3 in the morning, he went and banged on their door for a good five minutes, no answer. He went back home, drove his truck to the edge of his property and hit the panic button. Come 4 in the morning, the neighbors were knocking on his door and asked him if it was his truck and why he didn't turn it off. He hit the button again, silencing the truck, and asked "Ya hear that?" the dog barking and crying away. The owners told him that they would muzzle the dog, he told them he didn't want the dog muzzled, but they made anti-bark collars. They purchased one and the problem was solved.

To the OP, I know the dog is an annoyance, if the dog continues you have a couple options. If it were I and I was on good terms with the neighbors, I would simply mention it to them and suggest a shock collar. You can even throw in extra weight and say you haven't been the only one to notice. If you aren't on "great" terms with the neighbors, call and file a anonymous complaint. Wait a week and if it continues, file another. You could even try an anonymous letter, typed and sent to their address without a return address. Type it up and make it look very official and simply tell them that there barking dog is beginning to get noticed and complained about, if the problem is not solved official filed complaints will be made.

There's my two cents.

Not trolling, I don't do that. I just wanted to provide a different perspective not an attack.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Ditto. Then there are the folks that bring their dog up to the lake and tie them to the tree for the weekend and all they do is bark all weekend. How can they stand it! They come to a wilderness or at least wilder area and let that happen? Sheesh!

I firmly believe that a barking dog is a bored dog. It needs more excersise if nothing else. I feel bad for you and the animal. Ask them to walk their dog more. Even fetch in the back yard. I know my dogs pace around the house but after a walk they're mostly blobs. It gets really quiet after that almost every time. If not, we break the leash out and walk them until they're calm.

It happens quite a bit. Someone gets a dog because "everyone should have a dog" (NOT) and these pack animals are left in empty backyards often enclosed by a 6' privacy fence.

Lock anything in an area enclosed by semi-solid walls with nothing but sky and dirt to look at, ANYBODY will start talking themselves. LOL

I am a stay-at-home mom and my husband works from home. We are always home, and usually outside. I have neighbors with dogs that bark incessantly. ALL...DAY...LONG...12...HOURS...A...DAY. A couple of useless talks with the owners about the problem, and a letter about the problem yielded nothing but threats from them. A couple calls to Animal Control led to increasing fines for each visit and then a scheduled court appearance for the owners to defend why they should be allowed to keep those dogs. They managed to keep the dogs, but the barking has stopped, too.
Try talking to the owners, and if that doesn't get results, then contact authorities in your area. Animal control officers usually try to make it sound like they just happened to be in the area when they noticed ___(fill in the blank), so your neighbor does not need to know that you complained. The complaints are usually filed by the Animal control officer.
Good luck.
