I guess I should update & say that the barking has really decreased as the dogs have gotten more comfortable with the neighboghood. The dogs still bark at us, which is annoying. They can't communicate with their kids without screaming, they smoke on their back porch (which is near our house), they don't weed, and their 3 yo girl is a pain.
...BUT these neighbors have turned out to be decent people.
They watch out for the chickens. They let us know when raccoons or possums have been in either of our yards. They caught & caged our 2 tween pullets when the youngsters were chased from the yard by the menacing, pecking adult hens. They ask about the chickens and are genuinely curious. They throw bread to the girls so that they can enjoy chicken TV from their side of the fence.
They respect my pets and I will respect theirs.
