No more turning. Hatch on March 1

congrats to all and still sending hatching vibes your way. As of now have 10 black coppers and 5 wheaton marans out and more zipping and pipping. Still more rocking and rolling. This sportsman looks like wall to wall chicks eggs and egg shells. Tried to take pics but the sportsman is to dark and all I get is forms. Will have to get pics when they go to brooder.

I came home from work today. No more pips or chickies.

I plan to get some more this week and try again. I feel for the little guy being all alone! Hopefully, the next hatch will be better. Congrats to all of you who have babies and pips!!!

I had 9 chicks hatch last year and were doing well then at 3 wks my x-dog dug under the run and killed 8 of them. It was horrible. I had one that flew out and hide and then she was all alone. I would go out and spend a lot of time with her because I know chickens are social. If I were weeding the garden or something I would take her out of her pen and let her stay with me and talk to her. She would sit on my foot or climb up on my arm or shoulder. Finally, when she was 7 wks old I was able to hatch another batch of chicks and she was in heaven. She is still my favorite hen and I'll tell everyone she'll die of old age.

Yeahhhhhhhhh! I have 5 pips and 1 hatched. It is going to be a chipmunk color I think. It's still wet. I think it is going to look like it's father. I hope to have more by morning.

I am so sorry, I am going through my first hatch now and panicking at everything. I hope everything works out better next time.

I have quite a few fuzzy butts right now! So far I have:

Standards:
1 California White/White Leghorn roo
2 White Rock/White Leghorn roo
2 Black Australorp/White Leghorn roo (I can't wait to see how they grow up!)
2 Barred Rock/White Leghorn roo
2 Production Red/White Leghorn roo
1 Buff Orpington/White Leghorn roo

Bantams:
1 Golden Sebright/Golden Sebright roo
1 Blue/Red Old English Game Bantam/OEG roo
1 Cochin (I'm pretty sure it's my red cochin pullet and my buff roo, but it could be my buff pullet and red roo!

I'm not 100% sure because she was just hatched today, but I do believe my red pullet and/or roo were involved! :-) )

Pipped:
1 Self Blue Cochin/either my Buff or Red roo
1 Blue Wyandotte (I think)/either my Buff or Red roo

Nothing happening:
1 California White/White Leghorn roo

I moved a few to their brooder and will move the rest tomorrow. I have a network camera in the bator and brooder! It is so kewl watching them! If hubby gets our router working I'll be able to post a link to the brooder.

I put a mirror in the bator and the brooder. It is so hilarious watching the chicks trying to cuddle up with the ones in the mirror!

Last night my OEG was trying to fight the OEG he saw in the mirror! LOL!

I have 7 bantam eggs due in a few days so I made a temporary bator for them in a cardboard box. I'll move them back to the brooder so they can prepare to hatch!

This is so much fun!

I am doing this for the first time now.

I have 4 hatched, 1 died in shell, 6 pipped, 1 is quite. So far everyone is pipping on the right end and I've had them do it wrong before. If I get a least 9-10 chickies with this hatch then I will say yes it is a good idea.
