No no NO!

Believe me, many of us here on BYC suffer from chicken math! You just have to show some self-control. If you buy more chicks you’ll probably have to sell some of them later to be at your legal limit. This can be difficult when you become attached to these sweet little creatures.😊
I could sell them. Or I could give over more of my yard to the chickens. I do think one of my silkies is a roo (and of course s/he is my favorite). I am pretty attached to all but one of them. One who is identical to another much nicer chicken. So totally do-able.

When I got back into the hobby I raided my first bunch inside my house...I regret it two yeas later. The dust alone got on everything and the smell. Have you thought about going with a chopped straw bedding for your babies? Its cheap, soft as angel feathers and has little tiny seeds in it. I think one bag is about $12-14 for 4 cubic feet which is A LOT in the chick world. I also used a small air purifier that was great taking out fine particulate, made it less stuffy in the room.

The dust is incredible! I thought I was informed. It's been 6 weeks and there is a 1/4" of dust everywhere! Ew! I actually don't notice the smell. I do have a HEPA air filter down there, and several in my living space. It's only when I am feeding/watering 2x a day that I feel any symptoms, but they last for several hours.

I actually wanted to do straw bedding. But I can't find it near me. I may actually be allergic to that too. I plan on doing sand in the coop, but I cannot justify lugging a bunch of sand into my basement.

As to the limit, also not allowed to have roosters. I am betting at least one of my silkies is a rooster. So I will probably have to rehome. That totally leaves space for a new chicken!
No it doesn't. You have 6. Permit permits 4 or 5. Even removing a male would mean thar you are at 5.
