So Cute! I believe they also lay dark brown eggs. NICEI think they turn out looking like barred rocks in color but with less white and more muted definition between the black and white. But really, who cares because you have chickie babies

Yes, She is a French Black Copper Maran.. She is a big gal and lays nice dark brown eggs. She only lays probably 3 to 5 times a week on average so not an everyday layer.
She was just drinking out of an open container or water thats why she is wet on the front of her neck. Ill see if I can find a full picture of her to post. I was told when i got her she was directly from Little Pedlar lines of FBCM. Don't even ask me what I paid for her as a day old chick....but she's worth it.

I guess to know for sure...is her egg really dark? Almost like chocolate?

Can be but they are a little unpredictable . The more she lays they seem to get somewhat lighter. She's not a great layer and I have no idea how old she is.

I think I read that they are not great egg layers... maybe 3 a week..

I think in peak laying season she maxes out at 4 a week. No way more than that. When I got her I had a white leghorn and it seemed like Patsy never laid compared to her. She had trouble with extremely thin shells 3 weeks ago when she started laying again this year. She took around 4 months off this fall and winter.
