Keep fighting, you can beat City Hall! When I lived in CA. back in the 80s, I raised rabbits for food. I also had a very nasty neighbor that would use any excuse to cause me trouble, and did. He was well known with the police as a pest, so he called in Animal Control about my rabbits. The officer came out and said my neighbor told him I had 100 rabbits in my garage. At the time, I believe the legal limit was like 14 rabbits. I asked the officer if the stature said anything about baby rabbits? Do they count as rabbits, or is it more like puppies and kittens? A dog or a cat was not considered a dog or cat until it was at least 8 weeks old. I told him how many adults I had (12), and that each doe probably had at least 8 babies with her, what was I to do? Kill all the babies by taking them away from their food source, the mothers?? He just looked at me and said he would see what he could do, that made total sense to him. He came back the next day, and asked me how long it took for them to be self relient or useable. I told him I didn't wish to sell these animals, my family and neighbors used them as a food source, so 12 weeks. Because there had been nothing on the books as to how old they had to be to be considered a "rabbit", I got it written in that the babies could stay until they were 12 weeks old! Boy, was my nasty neighbor HOT when he found that one out!!
So hang in there, it can be done! Get petitions from your community and go to the council meetings and get others to go too! This is still America, and you have the right to be heard and respected!
