I couple of weeks ago I posted pics of a bird, questioning gender... I had a feeling right from the start that this chick was a Roo, and he definitely is:
At 1 day
At 4 weeks...

Today, at 7 weeks old... He has the 3 rowed pea comb, Burnt Sienna Saddle Feathers and Green & Black Feathers coming in on his tail. Sadly we are not allowed to have Roos in this Urban setting. So Chicsee, has to go!!!

It'll be okay... he's not a very nice chick anywho. Not nice to the girls nor humans. He's very aggressive always. Pushes everybody around. I don't know what I'm doing but I've caught him mid air x2 while on the attack and tucked him under my arm for a bit, then put him in a large dog crate (with shade, chick feed & water) where he could see the other chicks and myself interact in the yard. The others were free ranging and gobbling up bugs while I was weeding the flower beds. He is definitely headed to someone's freezer camp. Naughty chicken!!!
Now I have 2 others that are suspiciously rooish Lila, and Miso... I'll publish photos over the next couple of days. Lila, now Lyle mounts everyone... except Chicsee and Miso now Myles... he is a beautiful Silver Marana X...and Myles is a beautiful white and black speckled Marans X...I'd like to wring that woman's neck that sold me Myles & Lyle she promised they were PULLETS. After I explained the no Roos policy of my city.AND she said they were Marans, not Marans x... Grrrr!!! And they did look like Marans at a day old.
If I could keep a Roo I would keep Myles he is must a wonderful bird, calm disposition, quiet, gentle, yet he would stand up to Chicsee without antagonizing the situation. :(
