No smoking In Or Out

But in reality there are so many other things, that a cloud of smoke doesn't seem so bad, look at all the smog from trucks delivering goods to the store, or for example I was getting my kids out the car yesterday and some LOSER with pants below his butt crack, talking on his cell phone dropped the F-bomb! I'd rather him have been smoking to be honest!

Maybe I'm weird, but I actually like the way gas and diesel smell, especially coming out of a car or truck. Guess its just where I grew up. Yeah, I know its not good for the environment, but until science comes up with something new to power our vehicles, I guess I'll just enjoy the smell!

I know lots of people do, but is it good for your lungs? I don't think so... and some people don't like that gas and diesel smell - diesel is nasty smelling to me!

There are some who like the smell of smoke from a cigarette, so much so that they smoke them. So why must the entire country go CRAZY over that and not crazy over banning things that do much more damage?

Why not ban drinking in public or in a bar? Drinking causes so many more problems than smoking does and yet its acceptable all over.

I'd rather my kids see someone smoking than to see someone drunk and staggering over to their car!

LETS BAN DRINKING! many more innocent lives would be saved.

In case anyone is interested in my personal choice - I quit smoking 6 months, 3 weeks, 5 days, 15 hours and 3 minutes ago.

They tried that. It was called Prohibition. The bootleggers got rich. And crime soared. Government laws can cause as much or more trouble than the thing they were trying to stop.

Congrats, Wildsky!

I quit 6 years, 8 months and 22 days ago.

While I still miss it and only like the smell of a newly lit cig, I would not dream of butting into someone else's personal business and legislating what they can and can't do. Ever try to "tell" a smoker to quit? Best to encourage and support rather than nag.

I'm so happy that you were able to quit!

If I could ride my horse everywhere I went, believe me I would.

The smoke from cigarettes actually makes me gag. My eyes water and turn red. My throat swells and gets all itchy. The few times I've actually had the guts to ask someone to move away from me when they smoke, I've been met with rude replies. That's not fair to me that I go to a concert, or any other place and have to suffer because someone else does not have the decency to move away. Like I said, I really don't care if people smoke, but it should be done in a considerate way.

As for vehicles, yes, I drive a gas powered honda, but I don't park in front of stores. I don't drive up into a group of people and let my car idle. When we have the ambulances, we don't just let them run next to people. We either move them back, or turn them off.

Honestly, I don't think a law needs to be made about smoking outdoors, but I do love the law that prohibits people from smoking indoors at public venues. I think my issue is more about people using common sense when partaking in something they choose to do.

I know in New Jersey it is illegal to drink in public, and I'm almost positive you can be arrested for being intoxicated in public as well.

I do agree with the smoking outside issue. If its bothering us, we can just walk away. Okay, it may annoy you, but you CAN walk away from it. I've never smoked a day in my 51 years of life, and never plan to do so either. I lost my mom 21 years ago to lung cancer. She smoked 4 packs a day, at one time, before quitting!!!

She even chewed the nicorette gum almost up until the day she passed away.

Just wish there really was no thing as smoking. And, if you've got asthma, like I do, its an almost sure thing you won't want to ever smoke. Hopefully.

I quit smoking in 2001,and was amazed at the way everything smelled after 26 years of smoking over a pack a day. I could breathe again and what is the funniest part was I couldn't stand the way Cigarette smoke smelled when I smell others are smoking. I hate it in Restuarants and I won't go in them if they have a smoking section. I hate it when I walk by the people are smoking outside the stores. But ..... that is just me and my freedoms are not being affected in any way I have the right to choose where I go and if I want to subject myself to this. I have close friends that are smokers and when I leave their houses I come home and shower. and change my clothes. If they want to keep on smoking they should have the right and not encumbered by Taxes that seem to be added on to the price as a punishment. Whether it is an addiction or not we all have the right to choose and I hate Cigarettes now but I think losing the right to smoke just diminishes us as a people one more time. It may be freedom to do something bad but it is freedom just the same.

what a horrible adiction it is.

Nobody could tell me to quit I know that much, my hubby quit 10 years ago, but he never once told me I had to stop! He never once complained about the smell or anything like that.

Even though I no longer need to smoke, I still get angry when people demonize smokers like they're evil beings! Its so unfair and so far from the truth.
