No water overnight - problem?

If I had electricity to my coop, I'd have a water heater for them.

Hopefully that project will be done next year.

Mine don't have food or water in their coop. I figure they're sleeping and don't need it. We let them out first thing in the morning and all are thriving.

I used to have water in my coop until my two ducks thought it was fun to play in it and made my coop a wet mucky mess. So now we just keep it outside and feed and water them first thing in the a.m. They, too, are all thriving and don't seem to mind. When we go to lock them up at night they are all on their roosts anyway. They also give me an earfull if I'm not out there when they're ready to get out. But they're a happy bunch of chickens. My waterer is a bowl at the bottom of the down spout so I don't ever fill it unless it's frozen, then I use the heater. Wish I would have seen this homemade heater idea BEFORE I spent $54 on one!
