Hello everyone! I had a quick question regarding my gander. He currently lives with one male duck. Anytime I’m outside and then leave, the goose starts screaming his head off for the next ten minutes. Im not sure if he’s upset that I’m leaving, or what. Would having another male goose with him help with this?

He is probably upset when you leave. He might be associating you with his mate.It would be best to get a female that can keep him company all day.Even if you do get him a female he may still be noisy i have a Toulouse gander who screams his head off for no reason.Males can get very loud during the breeding season.

If you got him a mate, he'd probably still call for you when you leave, but he'll probably also stop a lot sooner. My geese call for people they know if they see or hear them go by, but they stop when the people are out of sight.

Why not get him a female companion? Odds are he'll get along way better with a female than with another gander. If you don't want goslings, you can just take the eggs. I don't think the drake does much for him company-wise.

I'm just concerned he'll get aggressive. He's already been relatively aggressive as breeding season is right around the corner, and I don't even have any other geese yet.
