I did what you did and brought Keld everywhere or left him with a goosesitter. IMHO, goslings are not meant to be be left alone. I really don't think you can spoil a gosling.
I didn't have to teach Keld anything about separation, it just came naturally. He gradually wanted to stay outside more and more. Now he is outside almost all the time.
He still enjoys company, but he doesn't always bother to get up to greet me unless he wants me to take him somewhere or if he wants a treat. He never attacks strangers, unless they're wearing colorful or shining shoes. Then he'll jump the shoe, but he doesn't bite. He'll just nibble the shoe (and, in case of sandals, nibble the toes, too). No hissing or flapping of wings. If they take off their shoes, he will play with the shoe for a while; talk to it and caress it with his bill. He used to sleep in one of my shoes when he was a baby, maybe that's why?
He also still loves his goosesitter, we go visit several times every week. He completely ignores me when he's there. I sometimes have to carry him home; he doesn't want to leave unless it's getting dark.
When something scares him he still comes running to me, but that rarely happens at home.
