I had an old hen whose time had come. I went in to the coop today to get her. As she tried to get away from me she ran into a board & broke her beak. It broke right below her nostrils. It was completely attached, blood was coming from her nostrils and mouth.
I dispatched her quickly, hopefully keeping her suffering to a minimum.
My question is, what if this happened to a hen I want to keep?
I need to get a different hen out tonight. I know night time is much easier, but this experience has me thinking!
How many people have had this happen, & is it treatable.
