Oh how cute and Happy Belated Birthday!!!Awww! What a cute pup!

So sorry to hear this. I have been so fortunate. Our winter has been really bad also but so far all of mine have made it.Sad day, Blossom, my beautiful silver apple yard passed away unexpectedly overnight in the coop, at least she was surrounded by her friends.
This was a rough winter… I now have four ducks in my freezer waiting for my kids to come over and help dig a grave.View attachment 4312479
That’s awesome! I’m in Maryland and it doesn’t get as cold here but we did have that one really bad ice storm that didn’t melt for six weeks. But that’s not why my Ducks died. They weren’t cold. I actually brought them into my house when it was very cold and icy out and they were all fine, but each of them had a different reason and different time that they died . for blossom , I believe it was salpingitis. Heidi died at ten years old of aspergillosis. Also Willow died from aspergillosis but she was only 3 years old. Chubbs had a prolapse problem that Kept coming back. She was an 8 year old Pekin. And teeny died first in the fall from a broken /or perhaps dislocated leg . She was an khaki, also ten years old. All very sweet ducks. Rip babiesSo sorry to hear this. I have been so fortunate. So sad to hear that you lost so many of your ducks. How do tey even get salpingitis or aspergillosis? I didn't know ducks could get something like that. I have been very lucky that my 25 have stayed healthy. It would be terrible do lose that many so close together. Do you have anymore or will you get more? Ours at Rural King and TSC have gone up in price quite a bit and they don't last long. I would incubate my eggs if I needed more but I don't at this point. I hope that the rest stay healthy if you still have some. That’s awesome! I’m in Maryland and it doesn’t get as cold here but we did have that one really bad ice storm that didn’t melt for six weeks. The aspergillus was my fault because a few years ago I used a bale of straw in the duck house for bedding in the winter and it was slightly moldy. I didn’t notice it. But eventually, I could smell a slightly musty odor, and I got it out of there, but the ducks had already breathed it. Some breeds are stronger than others and salpingitis a reproductive system disease that’s fairly common. The Ducks that prolapsed I believe it was because I had three chocolate Orpington chickens in the same yard with them who terrorize them and when they would try to lay an egg, the chickens would chase them away, so I guess they had to try to push harder and lay faster? Not sure but I finally got the chicken separated from them and it was much more peaceful for the Ducks I had 22 Ducks and now I have 16 so I don’t really need more but I am planning on hatching some eggs to sell ducklings soon.So sad to hear that you lost so many of your ducks.
