I started my 30 cornish cross with non medicated starter feed... but have since changed my mind and want to feed medicated starter. I am guessing there is no problem with this. The 30 chicks have eaten almost 2 4 lb. bags of non medicated starter in 5 days. I am going to buy 2 4 lb bags of medicated starter and feed them that. After they polish that off I will start with the regular grower feed. These cornish are amazing... at 3 days old they started to feather out the tips of there wings... So crazy how fast these birds grow.

Well I wanted to try the non medicated but the more I read I thought it would probably be better to be safe than sorry. And yes I buy little I think 4 lb bags of starter. The TSC I go to does not have starter in 50 lb bags. I usually don't feed starter for more than 2 weeks anyways.

If you like to buy medicated TSC have in red bags Call Chicks starter and grower, and don't worry 30 cornish finish that bag with no time.

Mkay, yeah I remember waffling quite a bit about it, but I also raised ducks with my chicks and medicated starter is not reccomended for waterfowl. All 6 turned out great though. There are a lot of great natural preventatives out there that helped. Good luck with your little guys.

I use Manna Pro Chick Starter. This is a link to the starter I use. http://www.mannapro.com/products/poultry/poultry-starter/ I fed 2 bags of non medicated and now I am going to feed 2 medicated bags. They are pretty small bags I think they are 4 lb per bag. For 30 chicks should I feed more than 2 bags of the medicated feed?
It depends on how fast your chicks go through feed but I should think so. Chicks need to be on some type of starter feed for like 18 weeks I heard...how come you only feed started for only 2 weeks? They need the high protein content to grow properly. After that you can switch them to layer if they are egg producers or some other type of adult feed that usually has less protein. Correct me if I'm wrong.
