Awww, Very cute. Make sure to post your pic on Brisneas Facebook page with your BYC name and mention its for the May Hatchalong.

Thanks -- I did do that, and yesterday it showed but today I don't see it there any more. Would they have removed it for some reason? Should I try posting it there again?

Im not sure. I will contact Brinsea on facebook.....

Hi! I have just received my Octagon 20 with the turner! Love it already - its so quiet and takes the responsibility out of trying to turn in a timely fashion. I set 11 narragansett turkey eggs Easter Day and 4 chicken eggs the next day. The chickens are an Easter Egger, 2 Barred Rocks and a Silver Laced Wyandotte. After candling, 5 turkey eggs are fertile and all 4 chickens. I would love to join the hatch along - I expect the chickens to hatch on May 15th -ish and the turkeys on the 21st.
I also have a question if any of you would like to let me know your thoughts - should I turm the self turner off a couple days before the chicks are due and just hand turn the turkeys until the chicks hatch (not exactly "lock down" but as close as I can figure)? I would then turn it back on again until a couple days before theys are due. What do you all think?

Sounds like that would be the best solution if you don't have a second bator although I don't think you are supposed to open the bator that much during lockdown.

If you are going to be in lockdown, you will not be able to open the lid 3-6 times a day to turn the turkey eggs. You either need a second incubator OR you just keep turning the chicken eggs and hope for the best. Many savy hatchers hatch so much, They forget to take eggs out of the turners on time and will have chicks. So its a possibility. OR you could Hand turn twice a day only. Brinseas get right back to there temps and humidity levels almost instantly. But when you have a pip from a egg, you should not open the lid any more. Tough call on your part.

Okay I want to be part of both contests!!

Expected hatch date is May 13th.
Breeds- barnyard mix. I have a Splash Cochin Roo, and Red Silkie Roo over Buff Orps, Ameraucana, BSL, Speckled Sussex, GL Cochin, Faverolle/Light Sussex X...Should be an interesting mix!
7 eggs total set.
Using my new Octagon 20 Eco with Autoturner.

This is also my very first hatch in this incubator! Candling tomorrow!
