As I was checking on my flock this morning, I noticed in my other pen, my silkie cockerel was behind my laying "box" crouched down and what appeared to be purring. He kept doing it until I went over and rubbed him. It was almost like he was in some kind of trance. Then I kept on doing what I was doing in the other pen and noticed him doing it again, but this time one of my pullets (his favorite girl) was coming over to him making some kind of calling noise. I just wondered if this was normal behavior. I was thinking maybe he's telling her to lay her eggs there or something. She has laid 2 eggs then quit. She is still very young though so I'm assuming that's normal as others have told me it was. Anyways... I just was curious about his behavior. I have attached the look to the video for reference. (The second video with the pullet coming over will not load.) Any insight is always appreciated.
