Normal first egg size?

This afternoon I went out to the coop and found this egg. It is the first one I have seen. Is it a normal size?

First eggs can be very tiny or super huge.... and everything in between. That's a pretty one, congratulations!

If they are free ranging they might still be laying elsewhere. Especially if they all are at state of lay.

They all are so I have been keeping them locked in the run until noon although that might not keep them from laying elsewhere.....

You might want to keep them locked up all day for a couple of days to see if they are indeed laying. Chickens can lay at any time of the day though they do prefer the morning. You might have to train them to use the nest boxes by putting eggs in there and locking them in for a week if they are laying somewhere else.

I have plastic easter eggs that are in the nesting boxes that have been in there since 14 weeks. But I will try that tomorrow. They probably wont enjoy it tho.

Might want to fill them with sand so they have some weight to them.

Free range birds sometimes need to be 'trained'(or re-trained) to lay in the coop nests, especially new layers. Leaving them locked in the coop for a week or so can help 'home' them to lay in the coop nests. Fake eggs/golf balls in the nests can help 'show' them were to lay. They can be confined to coop and maybe run 24/7 for a few days to a week, provided you have adequate space and ventilation, or confine them at least until mid to late afternoon. You help them create a new habit and they will usually stick with it. ..at least for a good while, then repeat as necessary.
