Normal looking eggs on the outside -- really "watery" with broken yolk

Has anyone ever cracked a normal looking egg but to find the white and the yolk very watery and broken. I have had this happen a few times and I throw them out. What would cause this? My hens seem healthy. Any ideas?

That can be the sign of an infertile egg that was partially incubated.

If you're sure it is a fresh egg, and hasn't been stored long (which is the main cause of watery eggs), it could be a nutritional deficiency. Here's a BYC thread about the same topic, which has some good tips:
