I've only had them for a week. They seem to lose little feathers every day. Always has a feather or two hanging from his mouth. Seem content. I posted a pic of feathers on walk way and louie with feathers in his mouth.
My gander and goose seem to be having a mini molt my gander has what I call feather buggers since they are usually sticking out of his nares. Their big molt was in June. Are you in the US?
This time of year it's normal when nights start getting cooler even though still hot during the day they molt , which is they shed the old tired feathers and get new ones to help them better to stay warm with winter closing in, can take about a month
Is your geese in water often? During the summer months my geese will go play in their pool and molt. It will sometimes almost look like it snowed. Once they are done molting though they end up being a whole lot prettier than the year before. As far as I know, this is normal and is nothing to be worried about.
Mine take their sweet time getting done with the molting. Around July 1st, they shed the large wing feathers, then comes upper and lower tail (not at once; they're never tailless), and for the next couple of months they just seem like an endless supply of smaller feathers and downs. I keep thinking "they MUST be done now", but no.
At least they aren’t like chickens some of my chickens get naked when they molt that’s weird enough looking can you imagine it happening to geese. Don’t think that would be a pretty site naked geese. Or ducks can’t imagine my ducks naked either.
