I just seen an ebay egg hatching for sale page that said the post office is suppose to confiscate any eggs that aren't labeled npip. Have any of you heard this before?

USPS is not supposed to accept any hatching eggs that do not have the proper paper work stating that the flock is NPIP. That is for every state. The problem is that USPS is not regulated enough for every office to follow all the rules to the letter. If a box of hatching eggs is accept somewhere without NPIP labels that package can be stopped anywhere along the lines by an employee that actually follows the rules. Since it cannot travel back across state lines without the NPIP, the package is logged, discarded, and all logs turned over to the USDA and the state agriculture department. If you try to send a package of eggs without NPIP you can be fined and your flock can be quarenteened till tested or flat out confiscated. Sending a package of hatching eggs and just not labeling it eggs can be seen as a Federel charge of fraud if discovered. These are NOT new laws. They just aren't enforced very well.

It does depend on what state you are from. I send eggs almost weekly and do not put anything in regards to NPIP and have never had an issue of them getting to their destination.

I have also received plenty that are not marked as well even when they are from another NPIP participant.

ps- if you send a package unmarked as alot of shippers do hoping the po won't be as rough on them if they don't know their eggs, then they really have no idea what's inside, eggs or something else.

The ways things are looking I'm going to have a few things to do tomorrow and won't be able to make it :(

However I will definitely have to make it one day.

All I have to sale/get rid of is a couple of young bantam mutt cockerels ( 2 mille fleur d'uccle X white sultan I think) and a silkie X OEGB (blue) )

a dom white silkie cockerel (out of a paint pen) and a pet blue partridgey type silkie (think its a cockerel but unsure)

thinking on getting rid of the blue silkie teenager that I don't know what sex it is and possibly may be getting rid of a young red partridge cockerel
also on the fence about 2 production red hens that are now essentially mine, they don't go back home to the neighbor's anymore. LOL

You don't happen to have any pictures of the dom white silkie cockerel do you? I need a hunky white, what sort of quality is he??

I will get you one tomorrow. He is from Sandy actually. He is still quite young, maybe 4 months old now and he is quite the small fellow! But I am sure he will mature out and get some size on him soon! He is definitely a boy, already has a back head full of streamers, but he already has some good potential. :) I will check him over really good and may spot clean him and take some pictures (its been raining lately and muddy here - all my light colored birds look dirty *bleh* )
