Bhep - do you breed your own silkies in those colors or do you buy the eggs? if you get itching to hatch more - let me know if you hatch partridge or porcelain and I'm your girl! I will be your best friend! ;)

That scovy is about 10 months old and a determined broody of infertile eggs every time she lays a few she goes broody....I don't want to full with scovies anymore, the other 3 I had got themselves killed, and I just want this girl to have a boy to fertilize her some dang eggs. LOL

I have had Silkies for about 5 years on & off. I can never get GOOD SIlkies. I gave up !
Then along came my 1st incubator.

Lavs & Whites hatched in July. Got 2 Lav roos & I THINK 2 roos & 2 hen in the white.
Buffs I hatched in Nov. These are the 1st buffs I have hatched without smutty wings.

Ok, came back to drool over Bhep's birds apparently! LOL

I was out trying to get some things in the garden taken care of, took some rose clippings in hope I have some rooted climbers to swap next month. Got out to the chickens and everyone is HAPPY! The new silkies finally wondering out of the coop into the run to check out the jungle of uncut weeds out in there. They'll be happy in a couple months when they discover the raised bed in there full of radish greens and perennial clovers I planted for them to snack on.

I was getting ready to move more compost to the raised beds and the *CRACK* caught my shin. Now I'm out for the count for the afternoon. Booooooooooo....

Anyways, so I was coming back on to make a list and draw out my garden for the spring planting. Make a calender and then maybe place a seed order today. So if anyone has any suggestions... willing to take them. Or has a request, let me know. I'll be splitting perennials this spring, and some of my summer bulbs needs to split as well... so may end up with a TON of things to trade. Looks like my Iris beds needs to be thinned out as well.

Hard to image this land was EMPTY and only had weeds and rocks when we moved in. ...and I moved in with a BLACK THUMB! hahaha

Hi,

My name is Renee. Due to an illness in my family I have acquired a mature black muscovy drake. Unfortunately, I already have a pair and one girl is not enough for two boys. I would like to find a good home for him. I am in Beaufort. Is there anyone out there who needs a nice boy?

vfem, you know your extras are always welcome here. I'm SO eager to get started this year. I got a bunch of my yard cleaned up today and the next time we get a little warmer(50-60) weather I'm going to start doing to border for the garden. I need to go price the fencing. I'm not sure what will be cheaper....fencing the chickens in or fencing them out of the garden.

I'll trade you some freezer camp roosters for the plants. :)

Bhep, they are stunning!!

Ally, i'm sure your stepdaughter will adjust just fine.

I'm having a great day so far! I re-bedded all my coops. Moved some birds around in a hope to make care easier, burnt some limb/leaves, and de-conned buckets.

I have 2 bits of GREAT news.
1. I called a friend to ask her how to keep bees...she does it for a living and I was thinking about getting some for my garden. She says she has too many at her house and will bring my a hive in March for my garden. I have to feed them but she will do all the care. She says she will give me 1/2 of their honey! I can't wait!!!

2. I FINALLY caught that stupid rough game hen that has been hanging out with my chickens. I scared her into a coop and shut her in quick. Catching her took quite a bit even in the coop. I dare any critter to try to get that spawn of satan hen. She is in a small cage now and this evening she will be put in a coop. Looks like that crew will be locked up for the next 2 weeks or so....long enough to teach her to roost/lay there and not FREAK out anytime I walk near the coop. LOL

Look what I made for lunch today! The recipe:Chicken Nachos

That looks so yummy but when I saw you said you caught that wild game hen I just knew she was on that plate. Lol

Miss Lydia, its VERY tempting. She has caused more havoc than she is worth. I will have to say I was surprised to feel how meaty she was when I did finally catch her and she stopped trying to claw my eyes out. UGH if she doesn't settle down she is either going to my Dad's house to live or going to the freezer.

No worries Alex, I have an issue where once I start planting, and everything starts multipling... I start giving things away!!! UGH! Now I have like a neon green thumb and its out of control! lol

I want those roses to take I clipped today, I know Ally wants one. With me, either 90% will root or none will root. I ended up with more grape vines then I needed the year before last and I gave 5 away only keeping 1. Now I have room for more, I should have saved those.

I think I may go take more cuttings of the grapes since I'm thinking about it. I usually have more success with the grapes after the spring buds begin to swell in March though. These are wine grapes we grow though, not muscadine or concord.

Here's the climbing roses the first year... we're on year 3 and the arbor is completely covered on the left side now.

Here's the first grape vine we get our cuttings from. Last year we got 15 lbs of wine grapes.

Well I'm happy to trade with you if you would like. You can keep the roses though....they are gorgeous but I'm very allergic. :(

What I need to do is bribe you to get you to come out and tell me what to do with my yard!! LOL
