North Carolina

OK who is ready for the PROOF that Bhep and NH processed chickens yesterday??? I didn't get to take as many pictures as I would have liked because of the rain but here are a few......

Bhep getting ready to finish the last cleaning part.

NH Concentrating on gutting.

DoubleA - AHHHHH!!!

Okay, so that was such an unflattering photo...no pregnant lady should have to endure seeing that!! LOL.

However, the tongue was NECESSARY due to the nasty & difficult connective tissue. As for taste...well....now I understand WHY you are suppose to let a chicken "cure" for a few days. This was one tough bird and poor DH was sawing away at him trying to carve him up for dinner tonight. At least I can bust out my <dare I mention it here to you??> CROCK POT and make soup out of him!! LOL.

On a side note:

Those of you who order feed from Reedy Fork Farms, they have changed their policy and I THINK that unless you order 40 bags of feed or more, you are no longer able to pick up your feed at the drop off site, but instead you will have to pick it up at one of the "local" stores that offer it. GRR!!!

If you need a listing of stores (in case you didn't get the email) please let me know!!

So, what a wonderful day today for chicken work.........

firstly I clean out the Silkie run and put down pine shavings instead of straw, all the silkies hid inside scared of the new flooring. Then i purchased a new dog run and cover and attached it to the side of my silkie run and put up 2 covers - thank-you DW - Allison for your help.

Then it was to move the dog run kit I have to the Chicken area and lay it out ready to assemble tomorrow.

Thanks to Cody, who came around with his mom this afternoon and purchased a male and female silkie from me..... It is nice to meet someone local to me at last of off BYC...

And last but not least, hopefully the last of my eggs will arrive tomorrow to go into the incubator. I have 45 eggs and a 42 egg turner, looks like 3 will get hand turned each day.......

Hello all!

Not trying to derail the thread or anything, but I haven't introduced myself (anywhere, actually!) since becoming a more active member of BYC AND someone elsewhere told me I should move my thread about a chicken swap over here. So, here's a happy Friday and hello, but also wondering if anyone can tell me how to move a thread?

Oh, and I am a Silkie and Guinea crazy lady, with a laying flock of easter eggers and cinnamon queens and a couple bantam cochin as well. As we speak I have one just hatched silkie chick in the brooder, one fluffing in the bator, and six more pipped! Plus the brinsea full of eggs still being turned and the second bator with a few in lockdown! lol

Kenly's Auction is located on Hwy. 581
It's called Godwin's Auction
but beware... they charge you a 20% buyer's fee...
they also charge you 50 cents per box.. if you sell... plus a 20% seller's fee.
It's really redneck... only has a filthy portajohn...

It is nothing at all like The Wicked Chicken Auction.
