I think you ate a perfectly good hen...

Uhh, That bird has no roo feathers. The neck feathers are a little sharp, but not rooish. It looks like my old "Friendly". She was a great layer for a couple years. She was massive in body weight.

Yes, cinnamon queen is a sex-linked, and they make great layers! We will be getting several more pullets this spring, since our gals are heading toward year two, but they have fed us well through the last couple winters. We love those big brown eggs!

Nice silkie pic--Gavin, was it? Is he a partridge? That's the one silkie color that I still feel muddled about. Have spent most my time researching paints and splashes for my lines, but will be hatching some partridge this spring so time to start unraveling that color!

Sorry to be delayed replying--a new chick is hatching every few minutes at this point so I'm a little distracted.

Oh, and I am in N. Durham/Hillsborough area!

I think Gavin's boy is more a Calico then a partridge.

I have partridge, and have 30 something partridge silkie eggs in my bator now. What is cooking and popping like popcorn in your bator?

Yes he has blue splash and partridge genes, so withthe lighter colored neck feathers is classed as a Calico I am lead to believe... ty to SoS

With gas prices as they are, it would cost an arm and a leg!! She sounds like a great girl, and we have 2 young BO roos!!

And, thanks for all you do, all you give, for your country!

Hey everybody! NH-glad your processing went ok. I wish somebody lived close enough to me to teach me how to process.
If anyone is intrested I have a 6 month old BO pullet for sale. 15$ she is laying a pale brown egg daily. She is being picked on by my other girls and chased away from food and water. She is a sweeter girl and I hate to see her go but I don't want her to get hurt.

Good morning all, nothing to report yet, just wanted to be first on here to say good morning this wonderful Saturday, my Barnevelder eggs have passed through the USPS at 2.52am this morning..... The humminh and ticking machine in the corner is ready!
