I'm beginning to debate what to do about our white Ameracauna cockeral chick. That chick is a big meanie. He is always right at the door when I open it to change their food or water and he likes to peck me. He tried to get me yesterday but didn't do damage. Well today the booger got ahold of the skin on the back of my hand. That hurt!

He is going to be a gorgeous rooster and I really want to be able to keep him to see what he can produce with the hens we will have. I'm afraid that if he is already showing aggression that it will only get worse. I have heard of people that take the roosters and tote them around to embarras them and straighten them out and I am considering doing that. I'm wondering too if he is just overprotective because of the space him and the other chicks are in. It's big enough for them now but really they have little to do besides eat and drink water. I hope that when they are integrated with the adults the problem will resolve itself. The chicks are 9 weeks old right now. Anyone have any suggestions about what to do about this cockerals aggression towards me? I don't know if he acts the same with DH. I don't want him to be a danger to my kids when he is in the coop with the adults.

On another note our broody EE is doing her job well. No extra eggs have shown up in her nest. I discovered that our eggs are still fertile as well so maybe we will get some chicks from what she is sitting on.

Another fun filled day at WCA.... good company and yummy treats.

I came home with 3 dozen eggs (blame doublea ) and 10 beautifully colored Guinea keets. OOO and by the way....if you have Guinea keets around doublea, you better check her pockets before she leaves or you will be one keet less.

Hollow & Mary...kept us filled with yummy treats Thanks so much.. believe it or not, my kids claim to be staving

It was a fun day! My niece was quiet the whole time, but every time I asked her if she wanted to leave she said no. On the way home, she talked non-stop about the auction. Turns out she had been keeping her dad apprised, texting him a step-by-step of the whole thing!

I had a good time. Met doublea for the first time, and got entertained by Beth's manchild. Watched how Mary just decides she's coming home with something and doesn't quit until it's hers.

I was tempted by a few things, but not enough to bring them home with me. Maybe next time.

One of our BR hens LOVES a buffett!!! And, one of our 10 EE pullets! They are all so different and so beautiful in their own way! They share their yard and coop with 10 BO pulletts. AND, we had our first Cochin go broody. I have not posted about it because I was afraid I would jinx it! She has not come off of the nest since she sat down! And, today...........there was a tiny wet dark chick!!! Can't wait to see what tomorrw brings, She has 8 eggs !!!

Ugh just got word that a friend of mine who I recently introduced to the world of chickens lost her favorite pullet tonight. Penny was a RIR and followed her around like a dog. She is going to need to get a few more hens anyway to keep her 2 roosters happy but I don't have ANY RIR. She would prefer something closer to 6 weeks old but will take any pullets. Does ANYONE have any RIR pullets for sale in the Raleighish area??

Here are a few of this week's hatchlings. Somewhere in the pack is a BLRW hatched from one of BHep's eggs

I absolutely love that little homemade ladder leading up to the roosting stick. That is so cute.
