We are in LaGrange North Carolina untill tomorrow around 12 will be heading back to Alabama on 40 west. We are looking for Bantam Ameraucanas, Silkies, Bantam Cochins and Guinea pigs. If you have any for sale please let me know.

Ruth, broodies are just nutty! I try to think if I had hormone levels that made me wants to just SIT for weeks, I'd be bonkers too! LOL

I think the class was good, it was only Beth. Alex and I. I hope they had fun and learned something being able to see and touch everything. I can't wait to get a day to can tomatoes, salsa and sauce next. I get wrinkly fingers.... but I get months worth of yummy fresh sauces!

We make pickles too!


Last I checked, they left to goto Sunny Skies Ice cream... Starting to regret not going with them!

Had fun today making blueberry jam, pickles and talking chicken. Brought the boys with me and they fished and had a blast ! Then went for ice cream......... girls stayed home and are green with envy.


I have 2 broody BCM hens that shared some eggs to hatch, hatched 3 chicks a few days ago. Puffed up like balloons every time I walk in the coop protecting the chicks etc.. Today I go in and no chicks.

I here peeping behind the nest box. I look and find a EE hen siting on the chicks. SHE STOLE THEM !

I am SO jealous!! I'd LOVE to learn how to do salsa and tomato sauce!! I won't mention the desire I have to order some Jam from you now!! I'm glad you had a good class, sure wish it was fuller for you though. Haha...I haven't touched pickles since I was pregnant with DD#1 and they made me sick.

Hehe...what a THIEF!! I sure hope my girls share the momma duties or at least I get to see them stealing one another's chicks!! hehe.

On a side note...I am so bummed!! I was trying to surprise DH with a golf outing for Father's Day...worked out the arrangements with a mutual friend (bonus, the girls and I would get a play date!!) for them to do breakfast and then spend the day golfing. DH goes and makes arrangements to go golfing THIS WEEKEND with the same friend. I was hoping he wouldn't but alas, there goes my big surprise!! Oh well...now to come up with something else!!

WCA was great today....lots of cheap stuff....my DW had me busy loading the truck with a new billy goat "Thunder" and lots of boxes full of those $1 chicks....missed all our peeps thou....the corner was kinda quiet......hope everyone had a great day!!

There was a white silkie hen that was sold with her chicks... all for one money.

And there was a pair of red top hats... they went kinda high, though. As rare finds usually are.
Super cheap turkey pairs.... and quite a few peacocks... but they weren't too cheap....

With all the work late into the night getting the younglings moved...I forgot to shut the original henhouse door.

Another hen taken last night. One of my black splits. Found her this morning.

She was taken over the 2 x 4 fencing around the chicken moat, across the barn pasture and over/through the field fence into the back pasture, and nearly to the back fence. Both of those pastures are small, and this is across the shorter way so we're talking less than 100 yards, but over two fences. And she was not dragged, or there would have been a better feather trail. Something carried a full grown Orpington hen.

We just found a few clumps, and hubby found the carcass just doing a walk-about. Head/shoulders eaten, but that's it.

I'd say "good morning", but it really isn't.

Sold a billy... bought a billy... had to have an unrelated male to breed my 2 nanny goats.

Stuff was pretty cheap today. The auction was over by 5:30pm. There was even a chincilla with cage & all accessories.
We met Dlockey & hubby... It turned out to be a great day!

Plus we were surprised by a ton of our eggs hatching out.. in the incubator, while we were gone.

DH is gonna finish putting the heating element & fan in the dorm refrigerator incubator, tomorrow....
This addiction keeps getting worse by the day...

Glad I was not there I would go crazy to get mamma silkies and her babies. The red top hats my ds would love for his birthday present. I think I would even go for that chinchilla cage....lol. I will be back on June 10. Might be bringing some teenagers if they don't sell at our local flock swap this weekend
