Broody update: As of 4pm this afternoon we have 1 baby chick!

I was inside putting up a few groceries and DH came in and said "look what I've got", he was holding a little light chipmunk colored chick. It is from one of the EE eggs. DH had to get the shell unstuck from it's butt! I thought it was so neat that my DH who had been saying nothing would hatch was so excited about showing off what hatched! We've checked a couple more times and found nothing else hatching yet. Mama Hazel is being a good mama to the little chick. DH was talking to the boys about selling the chicks and my ODS told him we weren't selling any of the chicks! They are already in love with the chick.

Question time: How long do you wait before assuming the hatch is finished? If this is the only chick to hatch I will be buying a couple more to add with it.

Well we are going to look at a house tomorrow out side of durham that has a pasture and 50 acres cute farm house! Excited to see it fingers crossed. oh and room for my girls just need to build a new house

well, got the silkie pen fixed so hopefully they stop visiting the sumatras, also got the teen turkeys moved out of Peepers house. Which made him a very HAPPY bird, his head wont get stepped on any more lol. Now I just have to move the new baby turkeys in , lucky Peepers gets to play daddy again till they start stepping on his head

Am planning cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts and what ever else will grow here in the south.....
Ohhh... I do cabbage, lettuce, greens, brussel sprouts (which never come ready until the following spring for me), onions, garlic and I always try one last planting of black beans to dry out and save for crock pot chili over the winter. :) Love these warm southern falls!

Since we are traveling this summer I won't be able to
harvest the tomatoes or bell peppers that got planted
and I'm not going to plant anything else since we won't
be here to harvest and can but a fall/winter crop is an idea
