Hatching question for you all. Something that has happened to at least one egg every hatch, and sometimes more. Egg pips. Either sits and dies, or begins to zip, then stops and dies. Had three this time. One bantam...pipped, but then oozed a thick liquid resembling yolk that crystalized, and died. One Orpington, pipped, zipped about a quarter of the way, then did the same. A third, Wyandotte, pipped, zipped three quarters, then died, but no thick liquid crystalizing on that one. Humidity is high in the bator. They weren't shrink-wrapped. What causes this? Eggs that don't hatch I get. But a chick that starts, then dies? That's got to be preventable. What am I doing wrong?t

Great pics 3chickens ....
The 2 unknown.... the feathered legs is from the FNNEE egg. The other is from a blue sizzle eggs. Sad when I know what chick came from what eggs. Nope...haven't hatched out millions of those.![]()

A chipmunk from a blue sizzle. How crazy. How in the world does that happen? Since the feathered one is from the FNNEE does that mean it carries the N
gene?N
